The modern capital of Iran, Tehran has always been a political venue since the early 18th century when Karim Khan Zand ordered a palace and a government office to be built in there. It`s situated on the slope of the impressive mountain chain of Alborz and dominated by the magnificent snow-crapped, volcanic come of Damavand(5670m)
Tehran is featuring a large collection of recent and remote Persian antiquities, traditions and cultures. The modern powerhouse of the government and its engineers, Tehran (meaning warm slopes) was originally a village on the suburbs of Rey, Iranian capital until Mongol invasion of the country in 1220 AD.
In 1795, the founder of Qajar dynasty crowned in Tehran and turned the city into the capital of Iran till now. in the 1960s and 70s, Tehran rapidly developed and in late 80s and 90s, the city witnessed the rise of many towers and skyscrapers every here and there. In addition to the traditional classic symbol of Tehran, i.e. Azadi tower nowadays, Milad tower is a frequently-visited landmark.
