The main haven on the Silk Road
Center of the eastern Azerbaijan province in the northern west of the country, 619km from Tehran.
According to the excavations over 2500 years ago, known to be among the most historical cities in the ancient Iran, Tabriz connects the history of civilization to the first millennium BC. during the 8th century and pursuant to a devastating earthquake, the city was rebuilt to the zenith of beauty and prosperity. The current architecture of the city has its root in Ashkani and Sassanid period and the city of Tabriz has been the political capital of Iran during Ilkhanid,Timurid,Safavid and Qajar.
The city is a home of many Social, Cultural and Industrial events and is the origin of constitutional movement.
